Abuse Can Affect Anyone

Statistics prove the prevalence of domestic abuse in our communities; even in suburban communities. We serve to help end cycles of abuse for underserved women in rural and suburban areas through programs and services that empower and support them right where they live.

In the United States

  • 1 in 3 women are a victim of domestic abuse in their lifetime.

  • Every minute 24 people are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the U.S.

  • More than 60% of domestic violence happens at home.

  • Over 3 million children witness domestic abuse in their homes every year.

In Tennessee

  • In 2016, Tennessee ranked 5th in the nation for the rate of women murdered by men due to domestic abuse.

  • Domestic abuse resulted in 81 murders in 2017.

  • Females accounted for 71.5% of all domestic abuse victims in 2017.

  • In Tennessee, 30.5% of reported victims of domestic abuse were African-American women and 41% were white women.

In Collierville, TN

  • There were over 400 instances of domestic abuse in Collierville in 2018.

  • Approximately 31% of the reported cases were simple assault.

  • Approximately 25% of the reported cases involved spouses.

  • 41% of all calls for 2018 were return calls
