In the United States

  • 1 in 3 women are a victim of domestic abuse in their lifetime.

  • Every minute 24 people are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the U.S.

  • More than 60% of domestic violence happens at home.

  • Over 3 million children witness domestic abuse in their homes every year.

In Tennessee

  • In a 2018 report by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, there were 73,568 domestic abuse related cases in the state.

  • The report revealed females accounted for 71.5% of all domestic abuse victims in 2018.

  • Reportedly, individuals between the ages of 25-35 were at a higher risk of domestic abuse than other age groups.

  • Other findings were that domestic abuse resulted in 98 murder victims in 2018.
